Memory of

our beloved Ade

- MC: CP Steve

At this moment, I would ask all presented Rotarians to stand up and address our “Silence in Memory to our beloved late Ade Majiyagbe, who was the life partner and actually the most supportive lady, to President Jonathan B. Majiyagbe, when she was with us!

During the early of June last year, all of our fellow Rotarians were very shocked to learn the pass away of Mrs. Ade Majiyagbe on the date of 6th June 2003 while the last International Convention was still conducting in Brisbane, Australia.  However, only a short period later, we were also very pleased to know the newly establishment of the “Ade’s Hope Fund for the Education of Women and Children” – The special fund within The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  This fund encourages the contributions to support grants that address the educational needs of women and children particularly within the Word Fund.

The late Ade Majiyagbe was dedicated to promoting the welfare of children and families everywhere.  She inspired others with her kindness and insight, including a group of U.S. elementary school students who enlisted the help of the local Rotary club to Lend a Hand to a Ghanaian family in a very unique way.

Ade was also very active in Inner Wheel, a separate organization for Rotarian wives and daughters.  She had served as the first chair of the Inner Wheel movement in Nigeria and was elected to Inner Wheel’s international board of directors.

President Jonathan Majiyagbe once refered Ade as his “pillar of support and partner in service”.  She accompanied him on his Rotary travels and participated in meetings and projects.  “You cannot talk about Jonathan’s success without giving credit to her” quoted by Funsho, a longtime friend and fellow members of the Rotary Club of Kano, who has known President Majiyagbe for nearly 30 years.

A dedicated, supportive and beloved lady to the Rotary!  We are here tonight have this impressive motion to memorize this great Rotarian’s spouse.  May her love to Lend a Hand to all human beings to our community, society and world!
