PROFILE 

RUBEN A. VEGAFRIA

DISTRICT GOVERNOR,  RY 2002-2003,  R.I. DISTRICT 3870 


    Ruben A. Vegafria joined the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro  in April 14, 1989. He ably served his club in various capacities until his election as the 24th  president of the club in RY1993 ˇV1994. He was credited for having organized a new club, the club of Cagayan de Oro East and also had  the distinction  of serving well as chairman of the Council of Presidents of the 12 Rotary Club in Cagayan de Oro during his incumbency. He was a Outstanding Rotarian  Club of the District Award in RY 1994-1995. 

    Ruben did remarkably well as District Chairman of Disconˇ¦95 and District Inter-Club Forum in 1998-1999. In RY 1999-2000 he was member of the District Nominating Committee. Besides a DGEA in RY1993-94 snd GGR in ry1995-96, he received several district aasignment as chairman of various committees.He also served the district as a group discussion leader and presentation speaker in several district forum, assemblies and conference.After Taipei, Taiwan in 1995, he second attendance at RI convention in San Antonio, Texas, USA IN June 2001. 

    By ans large , his outstanding leadership ans active involvement in the affairs of the district made him Assistant District Governor in 1998-1999. The following Rotary  year, the District sent him as D-7720 in North Carolina, USA. In 1996, he became a Paul Harris Fellow. 

    Ruben A. Vegaria was born in San Remegio Antique but spent his childhood, elementary ans high school days at Nabunturan, Davao del Norte ans college in Davao City. He finish the last year  of his BSC, major in Management at the University af the Visayas in 1971. After a few yearstint as corporate employee, he ventured to be his own . He decided to incorporate his family-owned business in the early 90ˇ¦s, giving birth to Hatrima Corporation, a growing business concern currently engaged industrial trading, real state leasing and small scale farming. 

    Prior to Rotary, Ruben had already led an active civic and community life being past president  of  Maharlika Lions Club, District 301-E in LY1984-1985. He is a 32* mason and member of Macajalar Lodge 184 (FAAM) AND Filipinas Shrine Club, Aloha Temple (AAONMS). He is also Vice President for Business Development of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber Commerce and Industry and member of the Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club. 

    Ruben enjoys golf and travel. He has five children and id married to Maricel Eduava Vegafria of Valencia City, Bukidnon.
