The Rotary Foundation is the lifeblood of Rotary and Rotary’s fountain of hope. Through its programs, people worldwide renew their hopes for a future that is bright and secure. This is why the Foundation must live on – through our contributions – to be able to build a peaceful and beautiful world.

Gil received a Doctorate of Optometry from Centro Escolar University. Currently he is President and Chairman of The Optical Shop, Inc., an optical products retailing business.  He is also affiliated with a number of other businesses, including serving as Chairman of the Board for Medgen Laboratories, Inc., a distributor of generic pharmaceutical products; and for MG Prime Pharmaceutical, a distributor of branded pharmaceutical products.  He is also President of Eyecare Products, a medical device trading company.

A Rotarian since 1980, Gil is a member of the Rotary club of Balintawak, where he served as club president in 1990-91. He received his club’s distinguished service award in 1996 and received district 3780’s Most Outstanding District Officer award in 1995. Gil served as Director of the Philippine College of Rotary Governors in 2001-03.

·        District Annual Giving Subcommittee (Chairperson, 2004-present)

While serving as District Governor in 1997-98, Gil faced the challenge of the Asian financial crisis. Despite the crisis, the year ended with many successes in the district.  Membership grew 23%, Rotaract and Interact clubs saw significant growth. Even contributions to the Foundation far exceeded the district’s goals for the year.

在1997-98年擔任地區總監時，Gil面臨亞洲財政危機的挑戰。儘管是危機，於該年度結束時這個地區有許多建樹。社員成長了23%，扶輪青年服務團和扶輪少年服務團有明顯的成長。甚而對扶輪基金的貢獻遠遠超過了該年度的地區目標。

Gil worked hard to bring Rotary education to the district.  He created a new district program called Continuing Rotary Education Program, which was widely successful at bringing “Rotary information down to the club level and deep into the heart of every Rotarian.”  One of the greatest successes during his year as DG was the district-wide initiative to build Rotary families by encouraging whole Rotarian families to become involved in Rotary projects.
