Good morning,

I am extremely happy to be here to participate at this Rotary Foundation Breakfast and share some of my thought with you.

I would like to begin with a story of a man who had a dream that he is in the heaven and there is a peculiar shop. The man approach the angel standing across the counter and ask her, ¡§What do you sell here?¡¨

The angel replies, ¡§Anything that you desire.¡¨

And he says, ¡§I want a world without poverty, without disease, without loneliness for anyone, or without any suffering.¡¨

The angel speaks, ¡§Sir, you have misunderstood me. We do not sell fruits here. We only sell seeds. You certainly can have the seeds and make the world as happy as you like.¡¨

The man suddenly woke up and realizes that the happiness of the world is within our reach. We will, of course, have to work for it.

My friends referring to the message from the angel, were fortunate hat we are Rotarians and we have been blessed with the good fortune that we can give:

  • Just because of this fortune of being a Rotarian, give US$100.

  • If you and your children can read and write, thank for this blessing and give US$100.

  • If you have never been tortured by the pangs of hunger or none of your family members died of starvation give another US$100.

  • If you have a child who was not threatened by illness with no doctor nor medicine available, give yet another US$100.

  • If you have not been jobless, unable to care for your family that is another reason to give US$100.

  • If you have a clean home and have unpolluted water to drink, think of giving another US$100.

  • If you sleep in a comfortable bed under a roof, each night, give another US$100, and it is air-conditioned add another US$100.

  • If you would like to have bright future for your children and grandchildren enjoying full and healthy lives, and wishing that they not die in unnecessary conflicts, give US$100 for each of them.

My fellow Rotarians, ladies and gentlemen, Rotary will not be as it is today without TRF and TRF can not survive without the generous support of Rotarians worldwide.

My appeal to you is, please do not stop ¡§giving¡¨ at any time. Do not wait for an excuse or a reason to give.

Finally, I would like to thank you for your continued support to TRF and being here today.

Thank you.
