To All District Polio Eradication Fundraising Campaign Chairmen

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Last Lap

Less than two months to go. Do not slow down. Follow up all the leads. Follow up all the phone calls that indicated that someone was thinking about donating. Encourage attendance at all the special events for the Campaign. In short make a last lap sprint with enthusiasm to encourage all the area and club Rotarians working in the campaign.

Make sure you get proper credit

Receiving and entering data is obviously a major part of our work. Please keep us up to date on your progress. We are receiving reports from around the world and the staff is working at full speed to be as current as possible. The systems are working well despite some weeks triple the amount of data to be posted compared to a year ago. There is approximately 8-10day interval between receiving a check and the data being included in a report. When you read your report with this letter I ask you to remember this time lag. If there is in your opinion a major error please let us know. One of the problems is the similarity in names of many clubs and an incorrect posting can occur. Please ask clubs and districts to ensure there is complete information.

Tell our story

Increasingly the non-Rotary world is hearing about Rotary and the campaign. This is due to a very proactive PR staff person in Evanston working on a regular basis with the PR departments in WHO and UNCEF. However much more effectively, it is also because Rotarians themselves are becoming increasingly proactive. Rotarians are writing letters, phoning TV and radio stations when Rotary’s effort is left out of any report. The number of articles in newspapers and magazines that we are receiving here from around the world indicates this fact. Rotary is being noticed. Please do your part

Dear Dens,

I was not in any way criticizing the work of Enh-Chieh Yeh. Please tell him that. What I needed was reports to know how things were doing. Now I have you as the reporter I know that there will be no trouble in that regard.

Best from Ann and me to yourself and Becky

Bob

Thanks for putting us on your web site. I have attached a bio as requested.

Dear Dens,

Thank you for your rapid response.

We have had great difficulty in corresponding with the Fundraising Committee in Taiwan. I tried to fax the chairman Eng-Chieh Yeh yesterday re your appointment as he does not have e-mail and again it did not transmit. This is very frustrating for us.

Can you please get in touch with him and inform him of your appointment and also if you can get an e-mail address for him or another fax number it would be very helpful.

The chairman is Eng-Chieh Yeh 7f-6.105 Kon-Lod Rd

bus: 886-39-331916
res:  886-39-322280

Please find the latest figures we have concerning Taiwan's contribution to the Polio Campaign.

We simply need to have some response from the committee as to these numbers. Do they feel they are OK or do they feel more needs to be done? Can we help?

Again many thanks

Bob

Dear PDG Dens,

It is my pleasure to request that you become a member of the above committee starting immediately. Your expertise with electronic information systems and your rapid response times are the assets I need at this time in Taiwan.

I look forward to your positive response.
