Since 1999, when it inaugurated a prosthesis workshop, the Rotary Club of La Victoria, Venezuela, has manufactured 138 artificial limbs and fitted them on needy individuals in more than a dozen communities. The 34-member club formed the Paul Harris Foundation to aid the effort, which also has support from government and private sources.

In Paraguay, the Rotary Club of Trinidad-Asunción for years has been supplying assistance to disadvantaged children who attend a primary school in Asunción. The club members shower attention on the children with a festive party every Children's Day, a national holiday.

In Benin, the Rotary Club of Cotonou-Lagune is working to help 50 street children by teaching them trades. The club has also built a dormitory for 20 orphans and is paying their school fees.

Long a supporter of a local association for the visually impaired, the Rotary Club of Remire Montjoly in French Guiana treated 15 blind youngsters to a day of pony riding in the country, supervised by a specialist in sports for the disabled. The children were delighted; one withdrawn boy, who had never been known to speak, even shouted with joy.

For the second year in a row, the Rotary clubs of Ljungby and Ljungby Kungshögen, Sweden, and the Ljungby Inner Wheel Club have sponsored a summer camp for Estonian children. The initiators, Past District Governor Thord Hjelmqvist, his wife Lena, and Rotarian P.G. Moberg, escort the youngsters from Estonia to the Swedish countryside, where they spend two weeks enjoying outdoor activities, and then home again.
