Presidential Celebrations to showcase Rotary service

國際扶輪社長當選人馬奇約伯(Jonathan Majiyagbe0已經在2003-04扶輪年中，排定15次為期一天的「社長慶祝會議」(Presidential Celebrations)，來凸顯世界各地傑出 扶輪計畫與提案。每一場迷你的會議將有一項特定的焦點，或是國際扶輪或基金會的服務活動，或是扶輪社員關心的重點，例如消弭貧窮。與會者將有機會可分享其經驗與見解。

RI President-elect Jonathan Majiyagbe has slated 15 one-day Presidential Celebrations for the 2003-04 Rotary year to spotlight outstanding Rotary projects and initiatives in various parts of the world. Each mini-conference will have a specific focus, either a service activity of Rotary International or its Foundation or a Rotarian concern such as alleviating poverty. Participants will have the opportunity to share their experiences and insights.

這些慶祝會議將取代現有的社長會議，由當地的扶輪社員規劃與主辦，註冊事宜也由其負責，降低活動的費用，增加參與的機會。這些慶祝會議開放給所有的扶輪社員與其貴賓參加。

Replacing presidential conferences, the celebrations will be planned and organized by local Rotarians, who will also handle registration, helping to keep the events affordable and maximize opportunities for participation. The celebrations are open to all Rotarians and their guests.

第一場將於7月19日在加拿大卑詩省的溫哥華舉行，重點為扶輪的職業服務。The first, to be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on 19 July, will highlight Rotarian vocational service.

Topics and locales for other celebrations in July and August are: twin clubs and joint World Community Service activities, El Paso, Texas, USA, and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, 26 July; health concerns, Johannesburg, South Africa, 2 August; population concerns, Abuja, Nigeria, 9 August; and peace and tolerance, Stockholm, Sweden, 13 August.
