Dear
Presidents &
District
Leaders
On the day
we celebrate
the 105th
Anniversary
of Rotary, I
am very
pleased to
inform you
that a bill
board with
the word END
POLIO NOW?
has been
hoisted at
Queen’s Road
Central.
Our District
is joining
many
countries in
the world to
send out the
important
message:
End Polio
Now.
Three words
which
represent
Rotary’s
pledge to
eradicate
polio from
the face of
the earth.
The bill
board of
5.79m (W) x
24.94 m (H)
is now on
display for
1 month from
23 February
to 22 March
2010 at the
Silver
Fortune
Plaza
besides
Entertainment
Building
facing
Queen’s Road
Central, the
busiest
street in
Central.
You will be
able to see
this
attractive
bill board
at the
junction of
Pedder
Street and
Queen’s Road
Central
(facing
Marks &
Spencer).
This is one
of our
efforts to
make more
people aware
of Rotary’s
movement in
Hong Kong, I
would like
to take this
opportunity
to thank the
PR Committee
for their
hard work in
getting this
dramatic
bill board
hoisted in
this very
prime
location.
Last but not
least, I
would like
to thank all
Rotarians in
our District
for their
great
endeavor in
supporting
the US$200
million
Challenge to
end polio.
Since the
launch of
polio plus
challenge in
December
2007, our
District has
raised a
total of
USD330,960.
For this
Rotary year,
from July
2009 until
now, our
District has
contributed
over
USD152,000
(including
USD30,000
raised from
10K Rotary
race) to the
polio
eradication.
Apart from
the
fundraising
effort, the
participation
of 34
Rotarians
from our
District to
the National
Immunization
Day in India
in early
January this
year also
demonstrated
our
District’s
commitment
to the
Global Polio
Eradication
Initiative.
Let us
continue to
do good
in the World
because
The Future
of Rotary Is
in Your
Hands.
Yours in
Rotary
DG Ada
