I have the opportunity to share my prosperity, skills and
education to change a few lives in my neighborhood and around
the world. The Rotary Foundation is my charity of choice because
it allows me to make a small contribution back to the community
that has given me such a wonderful life. |

I was introduced to Rotary as a GSE team member to India in
1981. This exposed me to the international and humanitarian side
of Rotary before I was invited to join a Rotary Club. This
prologue to Rotary gave me a sound base in what The Rotary
Foundation accomplishes. I met the people whose lives The Rotary
Foundation changes. I visited a Rotary Foundation funded eye
hospital where the blind walk in and the sighted walk out. Our
team visited a rural school with a Rotary wheel over the door, a
dirt floor but desks and books, where due to the generosity of
Rotarians literacy flourished. |

Team members in my home and led a GSE team. I was part of a team
that received a Rotary Foundation Individual Grant to travel to
the Philippines last year. I have seen first hand how The
Rotary Foundation uses my donations. I have seen how lives are
affected, how they are changed by our Foundation. |

I support The Rotary Foundation because it transforms lives.
The Rotary Foundation creates confidence where there is
disarray, understanding where there is suspicion, fellowship
where there is loneliness, and health where there is sickness
and despair. The Rotary Foundation looks above race, creed and
politics. Rotarians do not ask is the glass half empty or half
full, Rotarians ask who needs a glass of clean water. The water
is provided by our Foundation. |

The Rotary Foundation is transparent. I know where my money
goes. The Foundation annual report is mailed to my club and the
audited financial statements are available on the Rotary web
site. While some charities spend large amounts of money they
raise on their own organization, The Rotary Foundation spends
less than fifteen percent on fund development and
administration. This places our Foundation in the top tier of
charities for sound stewardship of the funds Rotarians donate. |

Unlike the stock market, you really shouldn't be diversifying
your giving. It is best if you stick with a charity over time
and make a commitment for the long haul. That is what I have
done with The Rotary Foundation. I became a sustaining member,
then a Paul Harris Fellow, a Benefactor, Bequest Society member
and a Major Donor because The Rotary Foundation is my charity of
choice. |

I will in a few months play a small part in an historic event.
The last child in the world will be inflicted with polio and
never again with that strike down a child. My role is minor.
Some of my donations went to the eradicate polio because The
Rotary Foundation is my charity of choice. |
